Frontiers Paragliding, Maya Devi Village, Pokhara, Nepal, December 2009
Maya Devi Village is a family run restaurant, guest house and avtivity center based in Pokhara, Nepal. It is named after Buddha’s mother and was constructed in a traditional style to blend in with its location in the foothills of the Nepal Himalaya. Maya Devi was purchased in 2003 by three Englishmen, Scott Mason, Adam Hill and Graham Saunders-Griffiths, since when it has been expanded and developed true to its original theme. While maintaining the traditional design, each of the lodges has been extensively renovated and extended including the construction of bathrooms, second floor bedrooms and terraces. It is now home to an increasing number, with the original Englishmen, their families and a growing collection of birds of prey. Run as a small guest house and offering tasty food in its restaurant, Maya Devi is set amongst verdant fields along the shores of Phewa Tal. It offers secluded boutique accommodation throughout the year in traditional round houses, providing a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Lakeside. Maya Devi Village is managed by Bhuphal and Bagwati Gurung (pictured above), with a little help from their two children Yukesh and Joya.

At this point, I only had 25-30 flights so stil relatively beginner though I have alot of hours through ridge soaring in Bali. Music is Breathe by Midge Ure, on of my all time favourite song.

Paragliding Nepal & Beauty
Paragliding in Nepal: A Paraglider is a foot-launched, ram-air, aerofoil canopy which flies with the energy of wind, gravity and pilot’s power to steer. It descends due to gravity and ascends due to air pressure. With the help of air pressure, pilot decides when and where to fly, soar, dive and eventually land it safely. Adventure seekers seek depths and space where ever they can find. In Nepal, you have breathtaking depth of 700 meter or higher for the unparalleled Shangri-La that lies beneath the Himalayan range offering a scenic ecstasy of the valleys and lush green jungles combined with an infinitive visibility of the crisp clear Himalayas all around you, all ready to add another dimension in your flight adrenal. Best Time ? November, December and January are the best three months for Paragliding in Nepal. Superb weather and excellent mountain visibility can be expected during those months. Best location for para gliding is the Annapurna region, also known as the arms of Pokhara valley. Locations around the Phewa Lake are also popular, one such is the Sarangkot hill which provides breath-taking views above the Pokhara city. With nothing to carry, and with a Nepali paragliding instructor, you can take the following popular courses or if you decide to do it on your own, just add the ownership/rent cost of paraglide, transportation cost and any tourism fees as charged by Nepal Tourism Ministry.
